Our activity

We develop and operate facilities for the production of biomethane, bioCO2 capture and organic fertilisers.

Explore

We lead the biomethane value chain

We transform organic waste into clean energy and generate an organic fertiliser that benefits both the environment and the rural environment. Biomethane plants optimise the management of agricultural and livestock waste and generate products with a positive environmental impact that benefit the rural communities in which they are implemented, through the generation of training and employment opportunities.

1.  We valorise waste

We collaborate with the primary sector, helping to manage agricultural and livestock waste and reduce emissions.

Procurement

The biogas and biomethane production process starts with the procurement of organic raw materials (in the case of Biorig, only slurry, manure and straw -mainly corn straw-).

Target

The aim is for the plants to be centres that transform organic waste into green energy and contribute to solving the waste management problems that currently exist in the primary sector.

2. Biomethane, a renewable gas

Biomethane is a green gas that can be injected into the grid without the need to adapt to the infrastructure and is easily stored.

Anaerobic digestion

The recovery of local agricultural and livestock waste allows biogas to be generated, which is then purified to obtain biomethane.

Upgrading

Once the biogas upgrading process has been carried out, the plants separate the bioCO2 from biomethane, which has the same characteristics as natural gas of fossil origin.

3. We capture biogenic CO₂

Our facilities will capture more than 300,000 tonnes of bioCO₂ from the anaerobic digestion of agricultural and livestock waste.

Emission reductions

These molecules can be used in the agri-food market, as well as in the production of sustainable fuels such as SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuels).

Biogenic CO2 applications

Waste from agriculture and livestock farming is responsible for 12% of global greenhouse gas emissions in Spain.

4. We produce organic fertilisers

We produce an organic fertiliser with great agronomic potential from the digestate resulting from the anaerobic digestion of agricultural and livestock waste.

Digestate

In addition to producing biogas, anaerobic digestion generates a by-product with great potential for use in agricultural soils.

Approved fertiliser

The digestate is processed and sanitised according to the guidelines of EU Directive 2019/1009, which results in a certified organic fertiliser.

The biomethane production process

The production of biomethane from waste is an energy recovery process that goes from the production and collection of organic waste to its injection into the gas grid as a gas of renewable origin.

1. Production of the waste
2. Transport of raw material
3. Biogas and digestate generation
4. Digestate treatment
5. Upgrading of biogas to biomethane
6. Biogenic CO₂ capture
7. Obtaining biomethane
8. Injection into the gas grid

Benefits for the environment

We design and operate facilities through our values of responsibility, diversity, innovation and excellence.

Social license
01 Social license We integrate our biomethane projects in the territory, attending and listening to the needs of the population and the characteristics of the local socio-economic environment.
Stable employment and depopulation
02 Stable employment and depopulation We boost employment in rural areas facing the demographic challenge during the plant’s 40 years of operation.
Local investments
03 Local investments We work with local communities to coordinate investments to address social and environmental needs in rural areas.
Agro-livestock sector
04 Agro-livestock sector We contribute to giving an economic boost to the agricultural and livestock activity, as we facilitate and optimise the management of waste from their farms and offer a certified organic fertiliser.
Climate change
05 Climate change We contribute to the reduction of emissions and in the effort to alleviate nitrate pollution of aquifers.
Improving crop quality
06 Improving crop quality We optimise the management of agricultural and livestock waste and return to the crops an organic fertiliser approved by EU Directive 2019/1009.
